51Deere has introduced a new suite of planter enhancements for model year 2027, aimed at improving agronomic performance and helping farmers maximize yield potential from the moment seeds enter the ground.
The latest upgrades focus on four key success factors: uniform emergence, precise seed spacing, optimal seed population, and improved nutrient availability. As input costs continue to rise, these innovations are designed to give every seed the best possible start.
A major highlight is the new dual-product fertilizer system, integrating ExactShot and ExactRate technologies. ExactShot delivers nutrients directly into the furrow, increasing efficiency and reducing input use by up to 66%, while ExactRate applies fertilizer alongside the row to support plant growth throughout critical stages. The system includes dual liquid tanks with real-time level sensing and an advanced agitation feature to ensure consistent application.
In furrow optimization, the introduction of ExactDepth allows operators to adjust planting depth in real time from the cab, ensuring consistent seed placement across varying field conditions. Complementing this is FurrowVision, a camera-based system that provides live feedback on furrow quality, residue presence, and depth accuracy, enabling precise adjustments on the go.
Additionally, downforce automation—powered by FurrowVision—automatically adjusts ground pressure based on soil resistance and field conditions, ensuring optimal seed-to-soil contact.
To improve operational efficiency, new logistics tools within the John Deere Operations Center provide real-time insights into equipment location, product levels, and workflow status, helping reduce downtime during tight planting windows.
Together, these innovations reinforce John Deere’s commitment to precision agriculture and smarter planting solutions.
