Energy Saving Action: XCMG Workover Helps Reduce Carbon In China
Publication Date: 2024-06-07

In the North China Oilfield, XCMG's electric workover rig recently cleaned 10 oil pipes, significantly reducing carbon emissions from the field's production project by 25,812 metric tons. This innovative initiative not only highlights XCMG's leading position in green energy technology, but also sets an example for the entire energy industry to reduce carbon emissions.

XCMG Workover Helps Reduce Carbon In China

"As part of the energy industry chain, XCMG has developed a number of initiatives and projects, including the Supply Chain Alliance Carbon Reduction Initiative, to drive carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals." Lu Chuan, President of XCMG, said, "We issued the Carbon Peak Carbon Neutrality Action Plan in February 2022, which proposed eight major initiatives aimed at reducing emissions in Scope One, two and three. By 2035, the penetration rate of new energy products will strive to exceed 35 percent, and the carbon footprint of key products, including excavators and cranes, will be reduced by 32 percent compared with 2020."

North China's oil fields require tens of thousands of maintenance operations each year. In 2023, XCMG's electric workover RIGS were deployed in bulk to various fields. The hybrid workover rig is able to operate in non-electric Wells using chassis power and provides continuous energy supply through on-board charging. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, this dual-power product is more energy efficient, lower maintenance costs, and can save more than 2 million yuan in the whole life cycle, while significantly reducing safety risks, improving operation efficiency and reducing labor intensity.

In addition, the equipment is equipped with a vehicle control system independently developed by XCMG, which provides a higher level of intelligence for the operation. XCMG's North American EPA Tier 4F compliant excavators also demonstrated high performance in the field.

In 2022, two XE360U excavators equipped with high-pressure common rail EFI T4F engines and intelligent electronic control systems successfully completed oilfield tasks, marking another solid step on the road of XCMG's equal focus on environmental protection and performance.

XCMG Workover Helps Reduce Carbon In China

Industry experts point out that XCMG's electric workover rig not only represents a technological advance in the energy equipment industry, but also reflects China's positive response to global climate change commitments. With the promotion and application of more green technologies, China is expected to achieve broader carbon reduction targets in the energy sector and make an important contribution to global sustainable development.
