MEXICO CITY, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese agricultural machinery manufacturer, has entered a strategic partnership with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) to enhance agricultural technology collaboration. The agreement was signed during a ceremony in Mexico attended by Shaozhongcheng (Vice President of Hunan Overseas Friendship Association), Ambassador Chen Daojiang (Chinese Ambassador to Mexico), Sharon Burke (CIMMYT Deputy Administrative Director), Bram Govaerts (CIMMYT Director General), and Zhang Jian (Assistant General Manager of Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery Overseas Marketing Company).
Under the memorandum of understanding, Zoomlion will leverage CIMMYT’s global research networks and demonstration platforms to optimize product performance and adaptability, while providing advanced, efficient agricultural equipment to support CIMMYT’s efforts in translating scientific research into practical agricultural solutions.
Ambassador Chen Daojiang highlighted the collaboration as a "milestone in Sino-Mexican agricultural cooperation," noting that it combines China’s manufacturing strength with CIMMYT’s global expertise to address food security challenges. "This partnership will inject Chinese innovation into global agricultural development," he stated, adding that the Chinese embassy will fully support project implementation.
The collaboration aims to accelerate technology transfer and promote sustainable farming practices, particularly in regions vulnerable to climate change and food insecurity.
